While in Kinsale take a one hour guided tour starting from the tourist office and continuing around narrow, winding streets and be informed about the famous history of the location which was once guarded by a huge 17th century fortress, Charles Fort. Take time to browse the beautiful art galleries, boutiques and gift shops located throughout the town.

Most popular historic sights to see whilst visiting Kinsale include Charles Fort, Desmond Castle, Luisitania Museum, St Multose Church and the Courthouse and Regional Museum.

More energetic visitors may wish to hike the Scilly Walk, a beautiful coastal trek that leads out to Charles Fort where the historic siege of Kinsale took place. If you fancy a spot of golf the Old Head Golf Links is an elite clifftop golf course located 15km south of Kinsale. For all cycling enthusiasts Kinsale is known for its beautiful quiet roads, but also it’s challenging uphill routes.

Most are situated near the harbour and within easy walking distance of the town centre.

Each October the Kinsale Gourmet Festival takes place, a foodie’s delight, which is now internationally renowned. Another popular festival in October is the Kinsale Jazz Festival with great beats throughout the town during the chilled long Bank Holiday Weekend.
