While in Cork why not visit one of the cookery schools. Choose from the prestigious Ballymaloe to Island Cottage.
Ballymaloe Cookery School & Gardens in Shanagarry is one of the famous cookery schools in Ireland and is well worth the visit. A short 25 minutes’ drive (30km) from the Clayton Hotel Silver Springs it is the perfect day out whilst staying at the hotel.
When you step through the little wooden side gate and into the courtyard of Ballymaloe Cookery School you enter a different world. A world where the whole emphasis is on food – growing it, preparing it, cooking it, eating it and, importantly, appreciating it. A world that feels wonderfully cut-off because it is in the middle of ten acres of organic market gardens, orchards and greenhouses which are, in turn, encircled by a hundred acres of organic farm.
Choose from a vast array of cookery courses ranging from ½ day to 2 ½ days and cover a wide range of culinary, business and horticulture subjects. Sample courses include “Afternoon Tea & Cakes”, “Kids in the Kitchen”, “Entertaining with Darina Allen and Rory O’Connell”. You are spoilt for choice!
