A world landmark and one of Ireland’s greatest treasures the Blarney Stone is a must if you are visiting Cork.

Blarney Castle

The iconic castle was built nearly six hundred years ago by one of Ireland’s greatest chieftains, Cormac MacCarthy, and has been attracting attention ever since. Over the last few hundred years, millions have flocked to Blarney making it a world renowned landmark and one of Ireland’s greatest treasures.

The castle still has some accessible rooms to tourists which may be viewed during a guided tour. Legend has it when you kiss the Stone of Eloquence or “Blarney Stone”, found at the top of the tower, you’ll never again be lost for words. Also commonly known by the locals as “the gift of the gab”.

During your visit to the castle grounds why not experience one of the beautiful walking trails including the calming Lake Walk, Woodland Walk, and Forest Trail Route.  Other magical features throughout the grounds include a Druids Circle, Poison Garden, Witch’s Cave and Wishing Steps.  Take in The Court which is an old gothic mansion, the Blarney Estate and the North Wall.
