Halloween in Cork

When the leaves turn golden and crisp, it can only mean, one thing, Halloween is just around the corner. It’s the perfect time to escape to Cork as a family, with a huge selection of activities to do while your in the Real Capital, this mid term break. We’ve compiled a list of our Five favourite activities to do in Cork this Halloween.

Dragon of Shandon

Shandon is one of the most historic areas of the city and for the last 17 years this area comes alive with ghosts, ghouls, monsters and of course the famous Dragon of Shandon on October 31st. The parade kicks off at around 7pm, winding its way down from Shandon Street into the city centre.
Shandon Street is located 5.9km from Clayton Hotel Silver Springs or if you’re in Cork city centre already, it’s less than a 10 minute walk from St Patrick’s Street. To find out more click here

The Pumpkin Patch at The Farm, Grenagh

The Farm in Grenagh is a great place to bring the family all year round but at Halloween it is a very special to be. Besides the usual attractions of the working farm, fairy garden, 1950s village and adventure playground, you will make their way through the maze, choose your pumpkin, carve them with the help of some friendly witches, cast some spells and join in on some festive games.

Spooky Screenings at Cork City Gaol

Nothing screams Halloween more than a scary movie. This year Cork City Gaol is hosting a scary movie inside the supposedly haunted jail on Sunday 30th October. On that day they will be screening the 1991 version of The Addams Family, while later on that night they will be showing the horror film, The Conjuring for adults. Cinema treats like popcorn, sweets and drinks will be there too. To book, click here

Harvest Moonshine at the Marina Market

An interactive theatre show with high energy dance routines and catchy sing songs in the Marina Market’s fully covered event space. Ideal for the smallies, every child will receive their very own fairy wings, wands and harvest crown and are encouraged to dress as their favourite fairy, witch or pumpkin to complement their new fairy wings. There are three shows on Saturday October 15th and three shows on Sunday October 16th. Tickets are €25 per child and €5 per adult. Book here
