Cork North Pole Outpost Experience

Located in Cuskinny Court, Cobh, less than a 30 minute drive from Clayton Hotel Silver Springs, The Cork North Pole Outpost Experience is a 65-80 minutes interactive theatrical experience in which children are invited to become Elves-in-training and meet Cork Elves, Mrs. Claus and Santa Claus. They will visit 4 areas, including the toy workshop where they will help the elves build a toy and Mrs Claus’ kitchen where they will decorate their own cookie. Every year the experience is different with new characters and themes.

Santa’s Magical Market

Cork’s famous Marina Market is home to Santa’s Magical Market from 19th November – 23rd December. Step into the magical woodland and see if you can spot all the animals hidden around. Meet the beautiful reindeer in their stables, resting before Christmas. Visit Santa’s Post Office and see the busy elves make sure your letter makes it to the North Pole. Make sure you try one of Mrs Claus’ treats in her bakery before you visit Santa in his grotto.

Take to the Ice

For the older Children why not take to the ice at The Alpine Skate Trail? Located on the stunning grounds of Fota House, The Alpine Skate Trail is less than 20 minutes from Clayton Hotel Silver Springs. This indoor winter wonderland features both a skating trail and skating ring, as well as festive food stalls. To find out more visit their website.

Take in a show

The Panto is a great way to celebrate Christmas and it is a guaranteed favourite for all the family. In Cork we don’t have one, but two, amazing Panto’s to choose from, as well as the just for adults Improv Panto.

 

Cinderella in The Everyman Theatre

This year’s panto in Cork’s Everyman Theatre is Cinderella, taking place from Saturday 3rd December – Sunday 15th January. Cinderella is the wonderful tale of a girl with a dream, a spell that’s broken at midnight and a fairy godmother, all with a modern Panto twist! It will be like a wonderful dream come true – so don’t delay, the ball can’t wait, you’re invited to get your tickets and be on your way!

Sleeping Beauty in Cork Opera House

From Thursday 1st December – Sunday 22nd January, unlike poor Sleeping Beauty, audience members will be kept wide-awake and entranced as this magical tale unfolds before their eyes. Come join Nanny Nellie and friends as they take on Maleficent in the quest to free our beautiful princess. Packed with amazing colour, fantastic costumes, live music, breath-taking dance and tonnes of belly laughs – this production will be a magical musical rollercoaster ride for all the family to enjoy this Christmas.

Improv Panto in Cork Opera House

The Christmas Panto is not just for Children. The Improv Panto has returned again this year for its tenth outing to Cork Opera House, just for adults. No two nights are the same, with chaos, craic and laughter. Featuring talented improvisers, actors and comedians including Dominic MacHale star of the blockbuster hit movie and TV series The Young Offenders, the people’s princess Laura O Mahony from Cork’s Red FM Breakfast Show, comedian and much-loved Cornelius Patrick O Sullivan and the witty and very bould Laura Harte.

If you’re looking for an open stop shop for your Christmas Shopping look no further than Mahon Point Shopping Centre, located less than 15 minutes from Clayton Hotel Silver Springs. With over 60 shops you will be sure to tick off all the people on your present list. Why not make a day of it and relax and unwind in one of the Centres many restaurants, cafes or in the food court? The Christmas star on top of the tree is you can also take in a movie on one of Omniplex Cinema Cork’s 13 screens, while there.
